Andrew C. McCarthy III is a National Review columnist. He was a United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He is well known as the prosecutor who led the terrorist conviction of Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman and eleven others in 1995.
The defendants were found guilty of the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 as well as plotting a series of assaults on New York City landmarks. He also helped to bring terrorists who bombed US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania to justice. In 2003, he resigned from the Justice Department.
