Andrej Karpathy is a Canadian AI pioneer and educator. Raised in Toronto, he earned a B.S. in Science from the University of Toronto, a Master's of Science from the University of British Columbia, and a PhD from Stanford, specializing in deep learning for vision and language.

A founding OpenAI member, he later led Tesla’s AI and Autopilot Vision scaling neural networks for autonomous driving. He briefly rejoined OpenAI to advance GPT-4. Named to TIME’s “2024 AI Influencers” and MIT’s “Innovators Under 35” back in 2020. Karpathy’s Stanford course and YouTube “Zero to Hero” series, with millions of views, make AI education accessible to all.
