Amos Winter is an Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is the Director of the GEAR Lab, which focuses on the marriage of mechanical design theory with user-centered product design to build simple, beautiful technology solutions for usage in extremely limited spaces.

Prof. Winter is the creator of the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC), an all-terrain wheelchair built for poor nations that were named one of the Wall Street Journal's best inventions in 2011. His Ph.D.
