Amanda Parsons, M.D. Biography

Amanda Parsons, MBA, MD, is the Vice President of Community & Population Health of the Bronx-based Montefiore Health System. She supervises patient education, staff wellness, and community interventions targeted at promoting health and wellbeing, in addition to working on the DSRIP programs. She also works at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Family and Social Medicine. She previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene's Division of Health Care Access and Improvement, where she oversaw the Primary Care Information Project, Correctional Health Services, Primary Care Access and Planning, as well as the IT, Finance, Administration, and Legal bureaus. Dr. Parsons formerly worked as an Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Company, supporting health care clients. She graduated from Columbia University with an M.D. and an M.B.A. and completed her post-graduate medical study at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Parsons is dedicated to promoting health and health care efficiency, as well as correctional health and eliminating inequities among vulnerable groups. She speaks often about health reform, quality assessment, quality improvement, and electronic medical records as an author, presenter, and panelist. She is a member of the Chairman's Council of the New York Restoration Project and the Board of Directors of the Vera Institute of Justice, VIP Community Services, and the New York eHealth Collaborative.
