Allister Heath is a business journalist, author, and pundit from the United Kingdom. He is now the Deputy Editor of The Telegraph, where he was appointed to help the publication refocus on its digital strategy. Heath is in charge of all business material, both digital and printed. From 2008 until 2014, Heath served as the editor of City A.M., a daily business newspaper published in and around London. City A.M. expanded to a daily audited print circulation of 128,781 copies during Heath's editorship, making it one of the most powerful voices in London's corporate sector. He was the editor of The Business magazine before joining City A.M., which shuttered after he left in 2008. He also worked for The Spectator as a contributing editor. Heath's writings in City A.M. and The Daily Telegraph are well-read for their incisive analysis and outspoken comments on economic and financial issues, and he has amassed a sizable following. Heath also appears on Newsnight, Daily Politics, and the Today Programme on a regular basis on radio and television. Heath received the Institute of Economic Affairs' 2011 Free Enterprise Award when speaking at the IEA's 60th Anniversary Gala in 2016. In the City of London Wealth Management Awards, he was also named 2012 SIMA Financial Journalist of the Year. He led the Taxpayers' Alliance 2020 Tax Commission in 2012, which advocated major reforms to the UK tax system. Heath earned an MPhil in economics from Hertford College in Oxford after studying economics at the London School of Economics.
