When Alli Joseph (of English, Irish, Jewish, Shinnecock Indian and African American descent) was a TV host, journalist and producer in her twenties, she never focused on her family's history. And, she didn't start until her daughter Lola Jane, now one, was born. “My mother Barbara, the family historian, was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, just before I found out I was pregnant,” says Alli. “I spent much of that year desperately trying to capture my mother's thoughts, voice and face on different media before she died just six months later. I felt cheated: my daughter would not have Grandma Bobbie’s wonderful stories at her fingertips, and I knew this could have been avoided. It is my greatest regret.”

Upon the death of her mother, Alli was inspired to help others benefit from her mistake in not capturing the family stories: she supplemented her 15-year on-air and journalism career by founding a family storytelling company, Seventh Generation Stories. To it Alli passionately brings her background as a public speaker, TV host, reporter, producer, writer, published author and documentary filmmaker. Alli has been a host and producer of entertainment, lifestyle and adventure shows for such large media outlets as CBS News, NBC, VH1, and Food Network. She developed her journalism, branding and marketing skills and business sensibilities working for these and other large media companies like Scripps, Grey Advertising Worldwide, Newscorp, Cablevision, WB, Hotjobs.com/Yahoo, AOL, Time Inc., and Hachette Filipacchi. Her first book, "The Shaolin Way: Ten Modern Secrets of Survival from a Shaolin Grandmaster", was published by Harper Collins in August 2005. Alli also produced a documentary called "The Last Piece", about saving the ancestral lands of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, of which she is a member.
