Aliza Licht graduated the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Neurobiology and Physiology and dreams of becoming a plastic surgeon. After she realized that she couldn't spend a life in scrubs, she decided to pursue her childhood love of fashion and started in the magazine industry. Licht decided to make the jump to fashion public relations in 1998 when she joined Donna Karan International where she went on to become senior vice president of global communications. In 2009, Licht took on social media on top of her traditional PR responsibilities and created “DKNY PR GIRL” (@dkny on twitter), the company's award-winning social media personality for whom she was the singular strategist and voice of. The person behind DKNY PR GIRL’s true identity was kept anonymous for two years until October 2011 when Licht revealed herself in a "behind the scenes of fashion week" video on YouTube. Her story was chronicled by The New York Times in "PR Girl Revealed As PR Executive." Licht has been widely credited as a social media pioneer in the fashion industry, building an organic community of over half a million followers.

On May 5, 2015, Licht got much more than 140 characters to share her thoughts with her first book, LEAVE YOUR MARK: Land your dream job. Kill it in your career. Rock social media. (Grand Central Publishing (U.S.), Hachette Book Group (Canada ) & Little, Brown and Company (U.K. Territories). Licht has been featured on the cover of The New York Times style section in the article “Who Will Be America’s Next Top Mentor?” She is an inaugural TEDx Times Square speaker (on The Power of Being Real), a five-time Fashion 2.0 award winner, has been profiled many times in the media including, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Business Insider, MSNBC, Yahoo, Mashable, U.S. News & World Report, E! News, Good & IBM’s “Figures of Progress” and many others. She was named one of TIME Style & Design's "Six Women Who Rule the Fashion World", Fashionista.com has included Licht in their “50 most influential people in NY fashion”, The New York Daily News listed Licht as #30 in the “Top 50 Most Powerful Women in New York" and The Daily Mail UK most recently dubbed Licht as "one of the most influential women in New York fashion." In 2016, Licht launched newsletter called BLACKBOARD. She lives in New York City with her husband and their two children.
