Alex Salter is an M.D.-Ph.D. candidate Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where he studies ways to make genetically modified T-cells better at killing cancer. The strategy is called CAR T-cell therapy and involves a patient's immune cells being removed and reprogrammed in a lab to produce chimeric antigen receptor which targets cancer.
