Alan Light is a journalist who specializes in writing about music. He started working at Rolling Stone as an intern before becoming a fact checker and later senior writer. Most notably he has been a rock critic for the magazine.Light was also the founding music editor for the magazine Vibe. He became the Editor-in-Chief in 1990.
In 1994 Light became editor-in-chief for Spin magazine where he stayed until 2002. He also worked as a music reviewer on WFUV radio and as a music correspondent for the NPR show Weekend America. Light regularly writes for the New York Times and the author of multiple books including What Happened Miss Simone?
