Alan Knott-Craig is the CEO of Mxit, Africa's largest social network, and the founder of World of Avatar. Knott-Craig co-founded five firms in the mobile telecommunications industry between 2003 and 2006. He was named Managing Director of iBurst, South Africa's third-largest wireless broadband network, in 2006. He wrote Don't Panic in April 2008, urging South Africans to return home.
Knott-Craig created The Trust, a non-profit dedicated to aiding charities in gaining access to skills and finance, in June 2008. In 2012, he released Mobinomics, a book about how mobile phones have affected Africans' lives.
