Alan Joyce Biography

Since November 2008, Alan Joyce has served as Qantas' Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Qantas and Jetstar have continued to lead the Australian domestic market throughout this time, with the beginning of Qantas' largest transformation program since privatization in 1995, the fast expansion of Jetstar's pan-Asian strategy, and the Qantas Frequent Flyer program's continued growth. During this period, the Qantas Group has received more than 120 new aircraft, accounting for more than a third of its fleet, and has invested in infrastructure, technology, and training to reach unprecedented levels of customer satisfaction. Mr. Joyce founded Jetstar in October 2003 and served as its first Chief Executive Officer for five years, launching the airline's operations throughout Australia and Asia. He worked for over 15 years in critical positions at Qantas, Ansett, and Aer Lingus before joining Jetstar. Between July 2012 to June 2013, Mr. Joyce served as Chairman of the International Air Transport Association.
