Professor Alain Enthoven has published significantly in the disciplines of health care economics, organization, management, and public policy in the United States and the United Kingdom. In his study, he investigates the reasons of unsustainable increase in national health expenditures and health-care prices, as well as potential solutions for slowing this growth while enhancing treatment quality.
His most recent work has focused on the shortcomings of employment-based health insurance and ideas for market-based universal health insurance in the United States of America. Professor Enthoven holds economics degrees from Stanford, Oxford, and MIT. He began his teaching career as an Instructor in Economics at MIT in 1955.
