In 1995, Akintunde began his stand-up comedy career. His appearances on BET's Comicview and That Comedy Show have taken him around the country. He used to write for the television show 'It's Showtime at the Apollo.' I Don't Want Delilah, I Need You was turned into a film script by Akintunde in 1999.
He also produced No Joke, a documentary about life on the road with black comedians Renaldo Ray, Steve Harvey, and Paul Mooney.
