AJ McLean is a model, singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer. He is most known for being a member of the Backstreet Boys, a vocal group. An advertisement in the newspaper in March 1992 sought young males between the ages of 16 and 19 for an audition with a new music group. He auditioned for the group despite being 14 years old. By April 1992, McLean had formally joined the Backstreet Boys as the group's first member. The Backstreet Boys were established in 1993 by McLean, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell. The band had a lot of success in the 1990s and early 2000s. They released a new album, In a World Like This, in 2013, to commemorate their 20th anniversary. Have It All, his solo album, was not published on January 20, 2010. Clouds, a single by Finnish rapper Redrama featuring McLean, was released in May of 2013. In Finland, it reached No. 4 on the charts. McLean was revealed as one of the celebrities appearing on season 29 of Dancing with the Stars in August 2020. McLean struggled with drug and alcohol addiction throughout the Backstreet Boys' peak years. McLean has been sober since entering treatment for the third time, however, he still battles with alcohol.
