Adam Tooze is a British historian and professor at Columbia University, where he holds the Shelby Cullom Davis Chair and directs the European Institute. Educated at King’s College, Cambridge, with a B.A., and the London School of Economics, earning a Ph.D., he grew up in England and Heidelberg, Germany.
A nonresident scholar at Carnegie Europe, Tooze writes for major publications like the Financial Times and London Review of Books. Renowned for his work in economic and twentieth-century history, Tooze previously taught at Cambridge and Yale, succeeding Paul Kennedy as Director of International Security Studies at Yale’s MacMillan Center.
