Adam Mosseri is an American entrepreneur who previously worked as a Facebook executive, most notably in charge of the platform's News Feed. He is now the Head of Instagram. While still a student at NYU, Mosseri founded his own design firm, Blank Mosseri, in 2003, specializing in visual, interaction, and exhibition design. His firm maintained offices in both New York and San Francisco. He joined TokBox as the company's first designer in 2007. Mosseri began her career as a product designer at Facebook, Instagram's parent company, in 2008. Mosseri started as a product design manager in 2009 and was promoted to design director for the company's mobile apps in 2012. Mosseri handled Facebook's News Feed section from 2012 to 2016, and from 2016 to May 2018, he was the company's vice president of product. During his time at Facebook, he was also in charge of Facebook Home, the company's failed attempt to deliver a mobile homescreen to Android smartphones. Following the 2016 presidential election, Mosseri took on the role of Facebook's spokesman for false news. Mosseri was one of the few Facebook executives who spoke out about Facebook's role in delivering security and trustworthy news during the 2018 Cambridge Analytica controversy. Mosseri was recruited as Instagram's vice president of product in May 2018. Following the resignation of the photo-sharing app's creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in September 2018, Facebook announced on October 1, 2018, that Mosseri will take over as the new Head of Instagram. Mosseri's role as Head of Instagram varies from his previous title as CEO since Facebook reserves CEO designations for business founders. Mosseri is likely to create a new management team and supervise all business activities as CEO.
