The first pan-African biobank is being created by the African genomics business 54gene, whose founder and CEO is Dr. Abasi Ene-Obong. Abasi, a Nigerian native, has a wealth of expertise working in the US, UK, and Nigerian healthcare sectors.
Prior to joining 54gene, Abasi worked as a management consultant for PwC and IQVIA with top healthcare organizations, including Fortune 100 pharmaceutical firms, academic and research institutes, and governments (formerly QuintilesIMS). Earlier, Abasi was a cancer researcher who contributed significantly to the field by writing a fundamental report on pancreatic cancer immunology for the journal Gastroenterology. Abasi earned a Ph.D.
