Former Pilot and Hall of Fame Presenter Set to Speak to Military Veterans

The American Legion is the United States' largest veterans service organization. Chartered by Congress in 1919, it advocates for service members and veterans, pushing for better VA healthcare and benefits, and fostering community engagement with those who have served and reintegrating into civilian life.

This year, the Legion is hosting its annual convention in Louisville, Kentucky, from August 28-September 2, 2026, and they have invited author, former F-16 pilot, and highly sought-after keynote speaker Lt. Col. (Ret.) Rob “Waldo” Waldman to address delegates following an intermission between the morning and afternoon sessions.

Waldman, known as “The Wingman,” is a decorated U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, and Hall of Fame motivational keynote speaker.

A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he flew 65 combat missions and accumulated over 2,650 flight hours, including operations in Iraq and Kosovo. He overcame severe claustrophobia and a fear of heights after a scuba diving accident, enabling him to continue his flying career.

Waldman later earned an MBA, succeeded in corporate sales and leadership roles, and founded Wingman Enterprises. His book “Never Fly Solo” (2009) emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, and building strong relationships, all lessons drawn from combat and business.

Inducted into the National Speakers Association Speaker Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed only on 190 people, a very prestigious award, he delivers high-energy talks on resilience, leadership, change, and peak performance to corporations worldwide. He also co-founded The Wingman Foundation with his twin brother to support veterans and their families.
