Exonerated Criminal Reform Advocate to Speak on Challenging Certainty and the Future of Law

In 2007, while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy, Knox was a student at the University of Washington and was accused of murdering her British roommate, Meredith Kercher. She was twice convicted and twice acquitted after spending nearly four years in prison. Her case became a global media sensation, often criticized for tabloid-style coverage and a flawed prosecution. Exonerated by Italy's Supreme Court in 2015, Knox returned to the U.S. and wrote the New York Times bestseller “Waiting to Be Heard”.

Her 2025 memoir “Free: My Search for Meaning” explores resilience and her quest to reclaim her identity after her harrowing experience. Her keynote address will touch on how legal systems function, where they sometimes fail, the aftermath, and how legal leaders can help shape the future of the sector.

The two-day conference will include candid keynotes, roundtable discussions on the effects of artificial intelligence on modern-day law, and cap the first day with a Q&A session with Knox.

Currently, Knox hosts the podcast “Hard Knox”, co-created the 2026 Hulu documentary “Mouth of the Wolf” about confronting her former prosecutor, and serves as an Innocence Network ambassador.
