Blossoming Talent Tapped to Bring a Night Filled with Philanthropy and Laughter

The Georgia Christian School Benefit Dinner has become a popular event in South Georgia, serving as a showcase opportunity to introduce the school’s mission to new benefactors through Student Ambassadors and videos integrated into the program. The Valdosta-based school instills a curriculum shaped by Christian values, providing a foundation that promotes a passion for learning, responsible citizens, and the skills necessary to lead.

Past keynote speakers have included heavyweights such as former President George W. Bush, former coach Lou Holtz, and last year’s event, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. This year, school officials have decided to take a break from politics and bring in a comedian for an evening filled with philanthropy and laughter.

Leanne Morgan, comedian and actress, will be the featured speaker for the 18th annual dinner scheduled for Monday, December 1, in the Valdosta State University Student Union Ballroom. Morgan is known for her Southern humor about family, motherhood, and women’s life changes. Raised near a funeral home, she graduated from the University of Tennessee and, after a brief first marriage and years selling jewelry, Morgan found comedy through open-mic nights in Texas. Her 2023 Netflix special, “I’m Every Woman”, topped charts, earning her spots on Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch and Forbes’ 50 Over 50. In 2024, she published “What in the World?!”, her debut book. Morgan debuted in film in 2025’s “You’re Cordially Invited” and starred in Netflix’s “Leanne”, a sitcom she co-created, which premiered in July 2025.
