Ellen Latham is a celebrated entrepreneur and exercise physiologist who co-founded Orangetheory Fitness, a global fitness franchise with over 1,500 studios in 24 countries. Born in Niagara Falls, she was inspired by her father, a physical education teacher, to pursue fitness. Latham earned a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and a Master’s in Exercise Physiology from the University of Buffalo. Her career included roles at top spas, TV fitness segments, and columns for The Miami Herald. After losing her job at 40, she developed “Ellen’s Ultimate Workout,” a heart rate-based interval training program, which became Orangetheory Fitness in 2010 with partners Jerome Kern and David Long. The franchise, known for high-intensity workouts, surpassed $1 billion in sales in 2018. Latham, an author and speaker, wrote “PUSH: A Guide to Living an All Out Life” (2015). She’s received awards like the 2017 IHRSA Woman Leader of the Year.
