Beloved Television Star and Devout Philanthropist Set to Honor Healthcare Workers at Christian University Benefit
Faulkner University is a private, Christian liberal arts university based in Montgomery, Alabama, dedicated to developing intellect and fostering a student body with rich character and a commitment to service. Later this fall, on October 2, at the Montgomery Renaissance Convention Center, they will host their Annual Benefit Dinner, honoring healthcare workers in the community who commit themselves to stellar patient care and the daily sacrifices they make.
“We are going to honor our healthcare workers,” said Faulkner University President Mitch Henry. “These individuals courageously face patients on their worst days, inspiring them with hope and healing. This dinner is just one way to highlight Faulkner University’s commitment to training ethical and elite healthcare professionals through our College of Health Sciences, including our new School of Nursing. We celebrate the healthcare professionals who have chosen this field as their ministry to serve others.”
The Faulkner University Benefit Dinner is a cherished tradition in the Montgomery and River Region communities. This annual event often features prominent speakers, including former U.S. Presidents, heads of state, athletes, and journalists, who engage and inspire with their message. The university has selected Candace Cameron Bure as the keynote speaker for the 2025 event.
Bure is an American actress, producer, author, and television personality best known for playing D.J. Tanner on the sitcom “Full House” (1987–1995) and its Netflix revival “Fuller House” (2016–2020). She started acting as a child, appearing in shows like “Growing Pains” starring her brother, Kirk Cameron. Bure also competed on “Dancing with the Stars” (2014) and has hosted shows like “The View” (2015–2016). Since 2008, she’s been a staple in Hallmark Channel movies, starring in over 30 projects, including the “Aurora Teagarden Mysteries” series (2015–2022).

In 2022, she joined Great American Family as an executive and developer, focusing on faith-based and family-friendly content. Bure is a devout Christian, often sharing her faith through books like “Staying Stylish” (2017) and her podcast, “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” (2022–present). She has written several books, including memoirs and faith-based guides, and is involved in philanthropy through organizations such as The Salvation Army, Skip1, Miracle of Mobility, and Compassion International.
“Candace is a fantastic choice as our keynote speaker,” said Henry. “Her own commitment to service, both on and off the screen, aligns perfectly with our university’s mission to train professionals who serve others. It’s only fitting that we honor the healthcare workers who embody these same values of compassion, dedication, and care.”
Proceeds from the Faulkner University Benefit Dinner support student scholarships for future healthcare leaders who enroll at the institution and adjacent ministries.
