Powerful Women's Speaker Amelia Rose Earhart to Keynote Girl Scouts Luncheon

Aviation Trailblazer to Deliver Inspirational Message at Fundraising Benefit

Since 2004, the annual Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma Juliette Low Leadership Society Luncheon has raised $6.6 million to support Girl Scouts programming. Last year’s event raised a record-breaking $480,000, ensuring even more girls have access to leadership development, life skills, outdoor exploration, and transformative camp experiences.

“For more than two decades, this luncheon has celebrated the strength of girls and women in Oklahoma,” said Debbie McKinney, luncheon co-chair. “By supporting Girl Scouts, we are ensuring the next generation is prepared to dream big, take bold risks, and lead with character.”

Next year’s program, taking place at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum on February 19, 2026, will welcome an inspirational keynote from Amelia Rose Earhart, an American private pilot, former journalist, and aviation advocate. She is named after Amelia Mary Earhart, who disappeared in July 1937 over the central Pacific Ocean while attempting to fly around the world. Earhart started her career as a reporter and anchor for NBC’s KUSA-TV in Denver, covering news, traffic, and weather, before moving to Los Angeles stations. Her aviation journey began with a 2004 flight lesson, leading to private, instrument, and commercial pilot ratings.

In 2011, she retraced her namesake’s transcontinental flight in a Cirrus SR22. In 2014, at 31, she became the youngest woman to circumnavigate the globe in a single-engine Pilatus PC-12 NG, covering 28,000 nautical miles across 17 stops, honoring the 1937 route. A former Girl Scout herself, she made the journey with a Girl Scout patch, gifted to her by the Girl Scouts of Colorado. An endearing symbol to young girls around the globe that everything is possible.

“We are delighted to welcome Amelia Rose Earhart as our keynote speaker,” said Joy LaBar, luncheon co-chair, along with Debbie McKinney. “Her boldness and determination perfectly embody the values that Girl Scouts instills in girls every day.”

The year she completed her posthumous tribute, she founded the Fly With Amelia Foundation, awarding flight scholarships to girls aged 16–18. A 2013 Amelia Earhart Pioneering Achievement Award recipient and 2014 Jaycees “Top Ten Young American,” she speaks on resilience, goal-setting, and conquering challenges worldwide. She also authored “Learn to Love the Turbulence” (2023), sharing her life lessons from her flying experiences.
