Beloved “Everybody Loves Raymond” Star Set to Speak at Women’s Event Supporting Health Coverage Needs

In the Savannah, Georgia region, roughly 25% of the population is underinsured or uninsured. To help mitigate this health coverage gap, the SmartWomen Luncheon & Expo is an annual fundraiser benefitting the St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Telfair Mammography Fund, taking place September 30, 2026, at the Savannah Convention Center. This ensures that, regardless of insurance status, all women have access to mammography and other breast health services.

This year’s featured speaker is Patricia Heaton, a prolific actress, producer, and author whose story will inspire attendees. Raised in Bay Village, Ohio, as one of five children in a Catholic family, she studied drama at Ohio State University before moving to New York to train. Heaton rose to fame as Debra Barone alongside Ray Romano on the CBS sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond” (1996–2005), earning two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (2000, 2001) and multiple nominations. She later starred as Frankie Heck on ABC’s “The Middle” (2009–2018) and in “Carol’s Second Act” (2019–2020).

Since the event’s inception, it has raised more than $2.5 million to support those in need of services, with last year’s event bringing in a record-breaking $280,000.

Heaton’s impact extends beyond acting. She has produced shows, authored several books, and worked as a World Vision ambassador providing humanitarian aid in Africa. A wife and mother to four sons, she remains active in both television and philanthropy.
