About Wendy Kaufman

Wendy Kaufman Biography

As the snarky "Hello From Snapple" ambassador for the Snapple Beverage Corp. (also known as "The Snapple Lady") and with her distinct blend of arrogance and charm, Wendy has nearly overnight become a nationally recognizable figure by flipping the conventional notion of a product spokesman. She has given 36 radio advertisements and 37 unscripted television commercials for Snapple her authentic voice, which has helped make her a household name and propel the Snapple brand into beverage sales history. Wendy started off working in Snapple's order department, but as the company's fan mail grew, it compelled her to designate herself as the organization's director of public relations since she could "Publicly Relate." She swore to respond to every letter that was sent to the Snapple corporate headquarters after the one and only fan letter she ever wrote to Barry Williams (Greg Brady) as a prepubescent went unanswered. At her busiest, Wendy was responding to each and every one of the more than 3,000 letters she received each week. She believed that if customers cared enough to write to a company and took time out of their day to do so, then the company owed it to the customers to answer. Wendy, often known as "The Snapple Lady," quickly rose to prominence as one of the most famous spokespersons in the world after joining Snapple's "True to Life" marketing initiative. Her enthusiasm, friendliness, and sense of humor made her popular with people of all ages, genders, and ethnicities across the nation. Wendy has consistently remained committed to the Snapple brand despite her climb to fame. Based on her fan letters, some of her more notable performances included dancing with the L.A. Classical Ballet, enjoying a Kiwi Strawberry Jacuzzi bath with two radio jocks, and being an official date (at the youthful age of 35) at a New Jersey senior prom. In addition to being a regular on the media circuit, Wendy, aka "The Snapple Lady," has appeared on a number of business programs, including Your World With Neil Cavuto on Fox News Channel, Oprah, Regis, and Kathie Lee, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Uncensored Bloopers, The Today Show, and The Late Show with David Letterman. When Wendy was unexpectedly fired by Snapple in 1994 after Quaker Oats bought the company, her supporters were furious, and the brand's reputation suffered as a result. Wendy's popularity never diminished, and when The Triarc Beverage Company acquired Snapple in 1997, the new leadership was aware of the fervent fan support and delightedly rehired Wendy to take on the position of "Goodwill Ambassadress." Since Wendy was so well-liked, Snapple even created Wendy's own flavor, "Wendy's Tropical Inspiration," with a portion of the sales going to the NYU Medical Center for cancer research and other philanthropic causes. Another sale of Snapple took place in 2000, this time to Cadbury Schweppes. 2005 is turning out to be Wendy's biggest year ever. She is looking forward to reconnecting with old fans and making new ones as she gets ready to appear in Snapple's newest "Returns the Favor" advertising campaign. Three witty and amusing television commercials with her well-known Long Island accent are set to debut on January 17, 2005. In the commercials, Wendy will praise "genuine" individuals for complimenting Snapple and pay it forward by encouraging others to compliment Snapple devotees. In addition, Wendy's fans will be able to watch her as one of the featured celebs on Celebrity Fit Club, a new reality program on VH1 that debuts on January 9, 2005. She travels, attends criminal justice classes at John Jay College in New York City, and likes theatre, dining out, and watching movies when she is not working. She had an appearance in the Chevy Chase movie Vegas Vacation, the now-defunct TV show "The Beat," and all 10 episodes of the popular VHI series I Love the 90s. In addition, Wendy takes great satisfaction in her consistent ranking as "The Least Foolish" American in a national survey that is released every April 1st. Wendy was raised in Long Island, New York, and graduated from Syracuse University with a double major in sociology and film from the esteemed Newhouse School of Communications (from the College of Arts and Sciences).
