About Zachary Quinto

Zachary Quinto Biography

American actor Zachary John Quinto (born June 2, 1977) is best known for his appearances as Gabriel "Sylar" Gray on NBC's Heroes and Adam Kaufman on 24. He was just chosen to play a young Spock in the 2008 movie Star Trek. Half-Italian, half-Irish Quinto was born in Pittsburgh and raised in the adjacent town of Green Tree, Pennsylvania. Quinto spent his formative years at Camp Notre Dame in Fairview, Pennsylvania. When he was younger, he performed with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera mini-stars. In the Keystone Oaks school system, he went to Jay Neff Middle School until the eighth grade and Aiken Elementary School until the fifth grade. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1995 and went on to the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned his degree in 1999. Quinto made his television debut in the ephemeral series The Others. He afterward had several guest appearances on popular shows including CSI, Touched By An Angel, Charmed, Six Feet Under, Lizzie McGuire, and L.A. Dragnet. In 2004, he was cast as computer specialist Adam Kaufman in a recurring role on the FOX series 24. All except one of the episodes of 24's third season featured Quinto. Quinto portrayed Sasan, Tori Spelling's arrogant, outspokenly homosexual Persian-American best buddy, in 2006's "reality" VH1 sitcom So NoTORIous. Later the same year, he joined the cast of NBC's Heroes as Gabriel "Sylar" Gray, a reclusive, insecure, and dangerously superpowered serial murderer. As a contract regular for Heroes' second season, Quinto has taken up the role of Sylar once more. Quinto had been cast as Spock, according to many publications, including E! Online, on July 23, 2007. This was then confirmed in an official statement made on July 26, 2007, at Comic-Con. Zachary Quinto was rumored to have been in talks to play a youthful Spock in the upcoming eleventh Star Trek movie as early as December 2006, according to rumors. In a 2006 essay, Quinto indicated an interest in playing Spock and drew comparisons to Leonard Nimoy.
