She was a former WNBC 4 New York field reporter who appeared on LX New York on a daily basis. Sansone has worked as a host and reporter for Access Hollywood, Extra, ABC, NBC, MTV, TV Guide Network, Yahoo!, CBS Sports, NESN, and ESPN, among others. Maria Sansone became famous at an early age when she was found by a local reporter, Mike Gallagher, while competing in a kids slam-dunk tournament in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was pleased by the 11-year-old Sansone after interviewing her for the local news and offered her a sports feature called Down to Size on WJET-TV, which aired weekly on the ABC affiliate in Erie, Pennsylvania. Before her 13th birthday, she interviewed Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills, Michael Jordan, Bill Cowher of the Pittsburgh Steelers, baseball icon Tommy Lasorda, and others. She was soon hired by ABC Sports to conduct live sideline reporting during the Little League World Series, earning her the distinction of Youngest Reporter in Network Television History. As a result, Maria appeared on Jay Leno's Tonight Show in December 1992. Maria had her own ABC show, Wide World of Sports for Kids, where she covered numerous athletic events such as the United States Figure Skating Championships and the Kentucky Derby. She also co-hosted Gladiators 2000 with Ryan Seacrest of American Idol and worked as a sport reporter for NBA Inside Stuff. Sansone played basketball in high school at Villa Maria Academy in Erie, Pennsylvania, and earned degrees in communications and political science from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications. She worked as a co-host on Live with Regis and Kelly with Regis Philbin while still in college. Maria went to Manhattan after college and worked as a VJ for MTV Networks, hosting web sensations The 9 on Yahoo and Pop Tub on YouTube. Maria worked as a field reporter for WNBC 4 New York in New York City, where she appeared daily on LX New York. She also hosted LXTV 1st Look on NBC, a nationally syndicated travel show. On NBC, she also presented the reality show On the Rocks: Search for America's Best Bartender. Maria had also covered award season for TV Guide Networks as a journalist and host. Maria has covered all of the major events, from the Grammys to the Academy Awards, by interviewing pop culture luminaries and celebrities. Maria has been on Access Hollywood, Extra, ABC's On the Red Carpet, NBC, TV Guide Network, CBS Sports, NESN, and ESPN over her two-decade television career. On September 27, 2012, Maria was chosen a permanent co-anchor of KTTV's Good Day LA, succeeding Jillian Reynolds, who had held the job for many years. She's been on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, Dateline NBC, Showbiz Tonite, and a variety of other shows. Maria is represented by Ken Lindner and Associates and now resides in Los Angeles, California.
